What is the Women’s Campaign?
The Women’s Campaign is an autonomous campaign and it represents the wants and needs of women within the membership; the details are set out in the UDSU Women’s Campaign Terms of Reference. The Women’s Campaign is one of five Liberation Campaigns run by the University of Derby Students’ Union, details on Liberation Campaigns can be found in the NUS Constitution and on the UDSU website. This year the campaign has been branded with the new Athenian Owl logo and is attempting to gain a higher profile, both within the University and the wider community.
What is the role of the Women’s Officer?
The Women’s Officer is one of five liberation officers in the UDSU and provides representational support for all of the membership who define as women. The women’s officer is a point of contact for any women students who feel they are experiencing gender inequality. As well as this, the Women’s Officer is there to facilitate campaign ideas, as requested by the membership of the women’s campaign.

Its appalling that even in this day and age and after all these years, that women in work are NOT treated equally. Many times women are asked to perform duties on an equal footing with men and probably have far more to lose. Most women these days have children, a home to look after and hold down a job. Why then are men paid far more for doing far less? Children in High Schools are encouraged to participate in activities once thought of as gender related; Im cetain that those same expectations of equality will follow once they are at work. What a shame that the girls will be sorely dissapointed and find that given opportunities to work in a mans world, they will not recieve the same recogntion and pay as men.
Hi – hope you had a good debate. How did it go and what was the result?
